Grant Partner Toolkit

Welcome to our Grant Partner Toolkit, designed to make the process of receiving your grant as easy as possible.

This Toolkit is for organisations and individuals who have been nominated to receive a grant, as well as our existing Grant Partners. You are most likely here after receiving an email from us notifying you that one of our funds or foundations has nominated your organisation to receive a grant.

If you have not received this notification and are seeking funding, see Support for Nonprofits.

Reporting on your grant

Grant Partners are required to submit a Grant Acquittal Report 12 months after receiving funding.

We’re committed to minimising administration for our Grant Partners, which is why we offer the option to upload already completed reports, including your organisation’s annual report for general purpose grants.

Follow these easy steps to submit your Grant Acquittal Report:

1. Log in to the Grants Portal with your email address and password.

2. Under ‘Active Requests’, you will find the form ‘General Purpose Report’ or ‘Specific Project Report’. Click on the blue ‘Start’ link to complete and submit. You can save and continue this form at any time.

If you would like to reassign the form to another person at your organisation or require an extension, please contact us.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my organisation receiving funding from Australian Communities Foundation?

Most grants distributed by Australian Communities Foundation are directly advised by the Funds and Foundations that make up our giving community. Members of our giving community can request a grant be paid from their Fund or Foundation to an organisation aligned with their interest areas at any time.

The Fund/Foundation supporting your organisation may have seen or heard of your work from other funders, in the media, via our Granting Opportunities platform (if you have uploaded a funding proposal) or through their own research.

What is a Named Fund?

Named Funds are charitable accounts established by individuals, families, organisations and other groups who want an easy way to give strategically.

Named Funds are also sometimes referred to donor-advised funds because the donor advises the trustee (Australian Communities Foundation) on the grants to be paid from their Fund.

How long will it take to receive my grant?

Australian Communities Foundation pays out grants every second Wednesday. If you have received a grant nomination, you first need log in to our online system and submit your online Grant Agreement at least one week prior to a payment date. Grant Agreements received after this deadline will be paid in the following cycle.

Can I contact donors that have supported my organisation?

Australian Communities Foundation acts as an intermediary for most donors behind the Funds and Foundations in our community. If you want to send any reports or updates beyond the required Grant Report, please email grants@communityfoundation.org.au and we will ensure that they receive them. If a donor would like to get in touch directly, we will let you know and can facilitate an introduction.

Is it possible to apply for more funding?

Most grants distributed by Australian Communities Foundation are directly advised by the Funds and Foundations that make up our giving community.

Many people in our giving community make grants via our Granting Opportunities platform, where charities can upload funding proposals. If you have not already uploaded a funding proposal, learn more and see if you’re eligible here.

The Foundation also runs several open grant rounds throughout the year on behalf of clients and funding partners. You can explore grant rounds to see if there’s an opportunity your organisation is eligible for here.
