PROJECT SUMMARY
The primary objective of St Peter’s Eastern Hill Social Enterprise Inc. is to provide employment pathways, training and volunteering opportunities for those in necessitous circumstances.
Our “Lunch Box” takeaway development will employ a further 2 part-time staff, and provide further training opportunities for our volunteers. “Lunch Box” will be delivered through our coffee caravan. Customers can select from a range of sandwiches for office workers who do not have the time or inclination to pack a lunch, nor the budget to afford restaurant meals on a daily basis.
This service will appeal to employees in local businesses and office workers who currently purchase products from the coffee caravan, which is in easy walking distance from their office. For customers wanting to purchase a lunch for those in necessitous circumstances, a “pay it forward” facility will be provided.
PROJECT OUTCOMES
The social mission of our Enterprise is to provide employment pathways, training and volunteering opportunities for those in necessitous circumstances. The “Lunch Box” development will advance this social mission.
Expected outcomes include:
1) Eight of our volunteers will take up hospitality training
2) On completion of training, the volunteers will receive certification as baristas and food-handlers
3) We will assist our trainees to transition into paid employment in the hospitality industry
4) We aim for a 50% increase in sales over the first six months of “Lunch Box” operations, and 100% increase in sales after a year
5) As customer demand increases for “Lunch Box” two additional part-time positions will be created.
