Dementia Doulas Australia is a registered charity shattering stigma and isolation by fostering a supportive community approach to dementia care. We ensure that families impacted by dementia, have ongoing access to a Dementia Doula from pre-diagnosis through to time of bereavement. A Dementia Doula is a non-clinical presence bringing ongoing guidance, strength and support, while leaving no one behind.

Our aim is to continue creating an ongoing pathway for families throughout the dementia trajectory, to assist them in planning ahead for what is to come so they can come back to living for today. We ensure all our initiatives are designed for the long haul, without the risk of disruption for when families need them most.

We know that in Australia, around 70% of people with dementia live within their local community. By fostering a community based approach, all businesses, organisations, services and community groups are better placed in being who families need them to be. Our team at Dementia Doulas Australia also provide specialised Dementia Doulas in communities that sit outside of mainstream services and ensure regional and remote areas don’t miss out.

We currently offer a free online family membership program for families to gain ongoing information, resources and connections, along with a one year, free health and wellbeing program for older South Australians supporting someone with dementia. We look forward to partnering with others that share our vision to ensure our programs continue to grow and be accessible to those who need it most.
