Deniliquin Youth Initiative

Deniliquin Youth Initiative is a community-led organisation dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where young people in the Edward River region can connect, grow and thrive.

Deniliquin Youth Initiative was established by local volunteers in response to identified community needs and is governed by a volunteer committee made up of local residents. Their purpose is to provide positive pathways for children and young people through access to safe spaces, meaningful activities, trusted relationships and opportunities that build confidence, resilience and belonging. They aim to reduce disengagement and social isolation by offering practical support, community connections, and programs that encourage participation, well-being, and personal development. Through volunteer-driven local action, Deniliquin Youth Initiative help young people feel valued, supported and empowered to make positive choices for their future. By removing barriers to participation and maintaining a consistent, youth-friendly environment, they aim to create lasting positive outcomes for young people while strengthening connections between families, volunteers and the wider Edward River community. Many young people in the Edward River region have limited access to safe, supervised places to go after school and outside school hours. Social isolation, mental health challenges and limited recreational opportunities can increase the risk of disengagement and negative behaviours. The Edward River Youth Centre fills this gap by providing a welcoming, inclusive environment where young people can build positive relationships, develop confidence and connect with their community.
