My Flare Up is a charity of people with lived experience of autoimmunity. Their goal is to improve the quality of life for people living with autoimmune conditions.

Autoimmune conditions affect millions of Australians, yet individuals often experience delayed diagnosis, fragmented care, and a lack of practical, everyday support. My Flare Up addresses this gap by providing accessible education, peer connection, and tools that help people better understand their symptoms, triggers and support needs. Their vision is a world where people living with autoimmune conditions feel informed, supported and believed.

My Flare Up’s key challenge is reaching a larger audience, particularly people living in remote Aboriginal communities. These communities face significant barriers to accessing health information and support, yet need culturally appropriate and trusted resources. My Flare Up is uniquely positioned to undertake this work due to their lived experience, established community connections, and a proven track record of delivering meaningful engagement and outcomes. Their credibility and trust within the community enable My Flare Up to communicate in ways that are accessible, culturally safe, and impactful.

My Flare Up’s current priority is reaching a broader community through social media, podcasts, and other suitable communication channels to increase awareness, improve health literacy, and reach people who would otherwise remain isolated or underserved. Funding will support resource development, platform maintenance, accessibility improvements and evaluation of impact. Early engagement metrics show strong demand and positive feedback from users reporting reduced isolation and increased confidence in managing flares.
