The Nangana Landcare Network unites community groups, landholders, and partners across the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges to protect and restore the landscapes we all depend on. Our mission is to regenerate ecosystems, strengthen biodiversity, and support sustainable land use at a landscape scale.
This region is home to many of Victoria’s most iconic and threatened species, including the critically endangered Helmeted Honeyeater and Leadbeater’s Possum, the state’s faunal emblems.Their survival depends on connected, resilient habitats, making landscape-wide collaboration essential. The Network works to restore native vegetation, rebuild wildlife corridors, and protect waterways, so that these species—and many others—can thrive.
Our goals include:
• Conserving and reconnecting habitat for threatened plants and animals.
• Supporting farmers to integrate biodiversity with productivity.
• Partnering with Traditional Owners to embed cultural knowledge
• Engaging communities and young people in long-term stewardship.
• Driving large-scale projects that deliver ecological, cultural, and social benefits.
A key initiative is C411 COUNTRY: Natural Capital for Generations, which spans farms, bushland, and communities across the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges. This project places natural capital—healthy soils, water, and biodiversity—at the centre of land management, recognising its value for both people and nature. C411 COUNTRY aims to deliver measurable improvements in natural assets, provide practical support and new revenue streams for landholders, and secure the survival of species like the Helmeted Honeyeater and Leadbeater’s Possum through restored, connected landscapes.
Through this work, Nangana Landcare Network is ensuring that today’s landscapes are strengthened and sustained for generations to come.
