Northern Inner Multiple Birth Association

Northern Inner Multiple Birth Association supports families who are parenting twins, triplets and more. They are a volunteer-run association in Melbourne’s inner north, providing information, practical advice and peer connection to local families of multiples. Parenting twins costs five times more than raising a singleton; triplets, thirteen times more. Research shows 87% of parents of multiples experience extreme exhaustion, 74% feel isolated, and up to 70% face financial and mental health difficulties. Additionally, 68% of multiples are born premature and require care from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Special Care Nursery. These are not rare challenges; they are the normal experience of the multiple birth community, and they shape everything Northern Inner Multiple Birth Association does.

Northern Inner Multiple Birth Association programs include playgroups, family and social events, age-specific online chat groups, meals for families with newborns, packs for premature babies, and in-person and online information sessions covering topics like sleep settling and toilet training multiples for new and expectant parents.

Funding supports these programs to continue and grow, and will contribute to expanding practical support into the home and more affordable activities for children. Northern Inner Multiple Birth Association makes sure no family has to do it alone.
