The NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust is a statutory not-for-profit body that works with landholders and communities to protect and enhance biodiversity on private land in NSW. With more than 80% of NSW land privately managed, these lands hold the key to large-scale conservation success.
They support landholders to manage threats like climate change and invasive species, and their efforts contribute to Australia’s National Reserve System and global targets to protect 30% of land by 2030.
Since 2018, NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust has led a world-class initiative to protect, restore, and connect vital ecosystems through conservation agreements, tenders, and stewardship payments to private landholders. They have prevented the loss of approximately 35,000 hectares of native vegetation, are protecting more than 300 threatened species, and help to prevent further decline for 22 species at risk of extinction.
