Organisation Summary

Parkinson’s NSW is a for-purpose organisation striving to make life better for people living with Parkinson’s, their families and carers. They provide essential services and programs including counselling, a network of Support Groups across NSW, an InfoLine service staffed by Registered Nurses and health professionals, Parkinson’s Specialist Nurses placed in rural & regional areas of NSW, and education. Their vision is a Parkinson’s community empowered, every step of the way.

Every 40 minutes, someone in Australia is diagnosed with Parkinson’s, making it more common than several major cancers combined. Approximately 200,000 Australians and 70,000 people in NSW are living with Parkinson’s. It is the world’s fastest-growing neurological condition, with figures projected to double by 2040, presenting with around 50 complex, debilitating symptoms impacting physical and mental wellbeing. In 2025, Parkinson’s NSW directly supported 10,000 people in the Parkinson’s community. Since establishment in 1979, Parkinson’s NSW have strived to ensure no-one faces Parkinson’s alone.

Parkinson’s NSW current priorities include expanding their Parkinson’s Specialist Nurse program in regional communities, where Parkinson’s is more prevalent, and resourcing their InfoLine to meet increased demand.
