Organisation Summary

Pregnancy Counselling Link provides specialised, free counselling and early intervention support to women and families during the perinatal period and early years of parenting, aligned with their vision of supporting strong, connected families and promoting positive lifelong outcomes for children. The service offers up to 12 individual counselling sessions (face-to-face, phone or virtual), addressing issues such as fertility, pregnancy, birth trauma, miscarriage and loss, parenting challenges, parenting relationships and mental health.

Pregnancy Counselling Link also deliver the Koala Joey’s program which strengthens parent–child connection, oral language development and socialisation through music, movement, storytelling and mindfulness.

Established in 1973, they have over 50 years’ experience delivering targeted, community-based care. A team of six part-time counsellors and an administration officer serve families across greater Brisbane and more recently for a two-year period, Logan. In 2025, Pregnancy Counselling Link supported 476 clients through the delivery of 2,591 hours of counselling, 475 hours of Koala Joeys and 270 hours supporting a counselling student.

Pregnancy Counselling Link address critical issues including perinatal mental health challenges, trauma, social isolation, and early childhood attachment and development, providing accessible early intervention. Demand exceeds capacity with wait times of up to five months. Funding will enable them to expand reach, reduce wait times, increase counselling capacity, grow group programs, and maintain equitable access. Investment in Pregnancy Counselling Link strengthens families early, improving outcomes for parents and children while reducing long-term pressure on health services.
