Red Earth Community Foundation is a locally governed community foundation working across the South Burnett, North Burnett and Cherbourg regions, also known as the Burnett Inland. Red Earth invests in people as the foundation of long-term regional development, connecting local leadership, community-identified priorities, philanthropy, industry contributions, and government investment to practical outcomes.
Red Earth provides a well-established, trusted local vehicle for giving, co-investment, and community-led action. Its model recognises that rural communities are not simply recipients of government funding; they are partners in designing, delivering and sustaining their own future.
The Red Earth Community Leadership Program has developed more than 270 alumni over 13 years, strengthening the local capability needed to lead change across the Burnett Inland and recently initiated the Red Earth Rural Health Pathways Fund that supports medical and health students and practitioners train and practice locally. In 2025 Red Earth commenced the Cherbourg Leadership Program, to support local First Nations community leadership.
Through alumni networks, forums and community planning, Red Earth turns community priorities into practical projects — helping local ideas become investable, locally owned initiatives.
Red Earth fills a practical gap in regional delivery. It provides the trusted local layer that connects policy, industry investment, philanthropic capital and community leadership into a coordinated regional system.
Red Earth works with councils, government, industry and developers to connect funding and community benefit contributions with locally identified needs by aligning investment with long-term regional priorities.
