Riding for the Disabled Association of Victoria (RDAV) delivers life-changing equestrian programs for children and adults with disability. For more than 55 years, RDAV has supported riders to build physical strength, balance and coordination, while also growing confidence, communication and social connection — all in a safe, structured and joyful environment with horses.
Our vision is a Victoria where people with disability can participate fully in community life, with equal access to sport, recreation and meaningful connections. Our mission is to improve health and wellbeing through evidence-informed, horse-assisted programs delivered by accredited coaches and a dedicated community of volunteers.
RDAV addresses the barriers that people with disability often face in accessing inclusive sport and recreation — including cost, limited local options, and a shortage of trained support. With a statewide network of centres and thousands of volunteers, we are well-placed to expand access, strengthen safety and horse welfare standards, and lift participation in both metropolitan and regional communities.
Our current priorities include increasing rider opportunities, developing and retaining volunteers and coaches, improving systems and governance, and building sustainable fundraising to secure RDAV’s future.
Funding through Australian Communities Foundation will help RDAV grow participation, train volunteers and coaches, support horse care and equipment, and invest in modern systems that improve safety, reporting and the participant experience. RDAV is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR1), enabling donors to make tax-deductible gifts that directly support riders and their families.
