Siblings Australia is a unique national organisation promoting better support for siblings of children and adults with disability. They recognise that siblings are often overlooked, which can lead to feelings of isolation. If this is not addressed, children (and later, adults) become vulnerable to a range of emotional and mental health problems. However, if siblings are acknowledged and connected to support, the sibling and in turn their family are likely to experience better outcomes.
Supporting siblings for over 25 years
Siblings Australia champions the brothers and sisters of people with disability or chronic illness – a group of more than 5 million Australians often overlooked in care and policy.
The hidden mental health toll
Siblings of people with disability or chronic illness are 65% more likely to face mental health challenges in adulthood due to the ongoing emotional load of care and support.
$1 creates $28 in community benefit
Through programs and advocacy reaching over 40,000 people, every dollar invested delivers measurable social and emotional gains for families nationwide.
