Southern Regional Natural Resource Management Association

NRM South is a purpose driven not for profit working to protect, restore and strengthen the resilience of southern Tasmania’s natural landscapes and communities.

For more than 20 years, we have brought people, knowledge and investment together to address some of the region’s most complex environmental challenges. We work across 2.5 million hectares of southern Tasmania, partnering with communities, farmers and other land managers, Tasmanian Aboriginal people and groups, governments, researchers, industry and other not for profits.

Our work recognises that healthy nature, resilient communities and sustainable livelihoods are interconnected. We lead and support practical action to protect biodiversity, restore waterways and landscapes, improve sustainable land management, and strengthen resilience to climate change and other emerging pressures.

Our role is more than delivering individual projects. We act as a regional hub identifying priorities, connecting expertise and partners, securing and directing investment, and turning knowledge into coordinated action on the ground. This enables investment to be better connected, avoids duplication and builds the capacity of communities and organisations to contribute to lasting change.

We are guided by the 2030 NRM Strategy for Southern Tasmania, developed with community, industry, government and technical experts. Our vision is for collaborative action that supports healthy landscapes and seascapes, protected natural values, and sustainable livelihoods and lifestyles.

We believe lasting environmental change is built through strong relationships, local knowledge, evidence, collaboration and practical action, and that investing in the capacity of people and communities to care for Country is as important as investing in individual projects.
