Stable One

Stable One is a Christian not-for-profit organisation that empowers churches and communities to provide shelter, care and pathways towards stability for people experiencing homelessness and marginalisation. Their vision is to see the Church fully embrace its calling to care for those experiencing homelessness and marginalisation.

Homelessness in Australia is growing, yet many communities lack practical, locally-led responses. Stable One equips local churches to work together across denominational lines, transforming compassion into coordinated action. Through their Winter Shelter Network, Fast Haven Collective and education and training initiatives, they provide safe accommodation, strengthen community capacity and create pathways towards long-term stability.

Since opening their first shelter in 2017, Stable One has grown into a national movement supporting communities across multiple states to establish sustainable, volunteer-driven responses to homelessness. Their model combines practical care with strong local partnerships, enabling communities to respond effectively while building lasting collaboration between churches, support services and volunteers.

Current priorities include expanding the Winter Shelter Network into new communities, growing the Fast Haven Collective to unlock underutilised housing, strengthening community education, and increasing organisational capacity to support this growth.

Funding will enable Stable One to further develop new community partnerships, equip volunteers, strengthen governance and systems, and invest in innovative responses that provide both immediate relief and longer-term housing solutions. By supporting Stable One, funders help create practical, scalable and community-led responses that bring hope, dignity and belonging to people experiencing homelessness across Australia.
