Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is one of Australia’s leading LGBTQIA+ arts, culture and community organisations, delivering world-renowned events, community programs and advocacy that celebrate diversity, inclusion and equality. For more than 45 years, Mardi Gras has created spaces where LGBTQIA+ people can feel safe, visible and connected, while helping foster broader community understanding and acceptance.

Through their annual Festival, Parade and year-round initiatives, Mardi Gras addresses social isolation, discrimination and barriers faced by LGBTQIA+ communities by creating opportunities for celebration, visibility, connection and participation. Their work also supports artists, volunteers, local businesses and community organisations, while contributing significant cultural, social and economic impact to NSW and Australia.

Each year, Mardi Gras engages hundreds of thousands of attendees and is supported by thousands of volunteers, artists and community participants. As the organisation approaches their 50th anniversary in 2028, they are focused on strengthening long-term sustainability, expanding community impact and increasing accessibility and inclusion across programs and events.

Funding support will help Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras continue delivering accessible community events and programs, strengthen their fundraising and community engagement capacity, and support the future growth and sustainability of LGBTQIA+ arts and culture.
