The Long Paddock at Okeview

The Long Paddock at Okeview is a registered Australian charity, Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) and DGR-endorsed organisation providing early intervention wellbeing programs for young people in regional New South Wales. Based near Scone in the Upper Hunter, we support children and adolescents who are at risk of disengaging from school, experiencing social isolation, or facing challenges that impact their wellbeing and future opportunities.

Our mission is to strengthen protective factors before young people reach crisis point. Through small-group, nature-based programs on a working farm, participants develop confidence, resilience, practical life skills and a sense of belonging while reconnecting with education, positive relationships and their wider community. Our evidence-informed approach combines meaningful hands-on experiences, mentoring and opportunities to contribute, creating an environment where young people can experience success and build hope for the future. As one of the few organisations in our region providing preventative, farm-based wellbeing programs, we are uniquely placed to respond to the needs of rural communities where services are limited and barriers to accessing support are significant.

Our current priority is to grow the sustainability and reach of our programs so that more vulnerable young people can benefit from consistent, high-quality support. Philanthropic investment will strengthen our organisational capacity by supporting skilled staff, program delivery, transport, equipment, evaluation and essential operating costs, ensuring The Long Paddock can continue delivering life-changing opportunities for young people and their families across the Upper Hunter and surrounding regional communities.
