Organisation Summary

VACCA, the Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency, is Victoria’s largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation supporting Aboriginal children, young people and families. Established in 1977, VACCA was founded to ensure Aboriginal children grow up safe, connected to family, culture and community, and has been delivering culturally led services for almost 50 years.

Today, VACCA supports thousands of Aboriginal children, young people and families annually through more than 80 programs across metropolitan and regional Victoria. Their services span family strengthening, early years, education, Out of Home Care, housing, youth justice, cultural healing and community wellbeing.

As an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, VACCA is governed by an Aboriginal Board and led by the principles of self-determination, cultural authority and community accountability. They recognise that strong cultural identity, family connection and community belonging are protective factors that improve lifelong outcomes and wellbeing.

VACCA’s goal is to create pathways for Aboriginal children and families to thrive by addressing the impacts of intergenerational trauma, strengthening connection to culture and supporting opportunities for healing, education, participation and self-determined futures. Through community-led solutions, VACCA works to build stronger families, stronger communities and better outcomes for future generations.
