Project Summary
The Pine Rivers Community Fun Day Spring Carnival is a free, family friendly event to be held on the 27th of September 2024. The event will host twenty community service providers stalls and provide a wide range of entertainment, activities and catering for the community to participate in.
In particular, the event will include:
– Jumping castle
– Inflatable games
– Animal zoo
– Face-painting
– Live music
– Cultural performances
– Prize raffles
The event will celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity by bringing together local cultural services to build social connections and community resilience.
The event will also support the long-term health and wellbeing of the region and its people, creating opportunities for the Moreton Bay community to thrive and contributing to positive legacy making. This will be the third annual community fun day event hosted at the Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre.
Project Outcomes
The event acts as a conduit to linking the community to key service providers that supports long term health and wellbeing.
It will achieve the following:
- Develop a clearer and more sustainable link to services and increasing the communities understanding of what is available.
- Provide community members from low socio-economic backgrounds the opportunity to attend a free event that they usually could not afford financially.
- Supply an outlet for families to spend quality time together and with their neighbours and other local community members to develop stronger family bonds.
- Raise awareness of different cultures within the community to develop social connection, cohesion and improved tolerance.
- Foster a sense of community connectiveness to create opportunities for the Moreton Bay communities and develop long term relationships and connections.
The event is used as a launching pad for the community to learn more about cultural diversity, inclusiveness, respect and fosters a sense of belonging within a section of the community that is traditionally underrepresented.
This community development event also builds social capital, improves social cohesion and tolerance as part of Encircle's broader community building activities.
By the completion of our event we anticipate over 1000 community members to participate. We anticipate the following additional benefits from the delivery of our event:
- Increased social connection for the community and reduces social isolation
- Increasing the communities access to services available and the broader social safety net
- Increased long term health and wellbeing of the people within the region
- A self-sustainable legacy-making contribution to the fabric of the Lawnton community.
