WRAD Health is a community-based alcohol and drug service combined with a bulk billing medical practice that has delivered treatment and care to our community for more than 35 years.
Our focus is on the health of the individual and family and work under a harm minimisation and recovery focused framework to help individuals meet the goals they have set for themselves using evidenced based skills and techniques.
The philosophy of harm minimisation underpins the delivery of all programs offered by WRAD Health and recognises the unique needs of individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and peoples who identify with LGBTIQA+. The harm minimisation principle recognises that people in our society use both licit and illicit drugs, and that drugs can be used in way that are more or less harmful to individuals, families and society. Harm minimisation offers a number of options designed to reduce the harm of drug use to the user and society.
WRAD Health delivers a broad range of medical and mental health treatments via its medical practice as well as a successful pharmacotherapy program. WRAD Health is here to support our community and your health is our priority.
Project Summary
Join us in making a difference in the lives of individuals battling Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) dependencies and their families. Our campaign aims to raise funds to provide essential resources, support, and hope for those on the challenging journey to recovery. Your contribution will be used to purchase evidenced based resources that empower people and help them break the chains of addiction and empowering individuals and families to rebuild their lives.
The Resilience Project Journal has been shown to help individuals find a pathway forward through strengthening their resolve to manage stress . WRAD Health have provided copies of the journal in the past with great response and it is known to help improve a persons mental health and wellbeing. The Invitation to Change workbook and Beyond Addiction booklet have been used with families and friends of a loved one with addiction and again we have received positive feedback on its impact in their lives and the lives of their loved.
The CRAFT book ” how to get a loved one sober” similarly been a resource that of itself has been shown to help get a loved one into treatment. Our aim through these resources is to be able to offer complimentary materials to consumers engaged with our services that are not only clinically valued but also been found to be positive for the individuals and families
Project Outcomes
Through provision of these resources along with individual and group counselling we expect to see greater outcomes from the individuals participating. These outcomes will be noted through achievement of person centred goals from the clients and families that attend our service.
It's important to recognize that a holistic approach, that considers the needs of individuals and family, is often the most effective approach. We want to resource those individuals and families with tools they can use now but also take into the future
