Field of Interest
- Housing and homelessness
- Individual/family services and support
Target Population
- People experiencing socio-economic disadvantage or vulnerability
- People experiencing or at risk of homelessness

Junction 142 aims to improve the health and physical wellbeing of people in the Blue Mountains area, including: - supporting the local community in providing relief to the homeless and those who experience misfortune. - distributing food and hot meals and assistance on a regular basis to those in need, and - providing welfare and social justice to those in need.
This is achieved by providing the following free services:
- Open Table: Hot meals served in the Hall Tuesday & Thursday. Food supplies are available for people to take home on these days. Meals are served to around 40 people each sitting with more attending to collect food hampers.
- Laundry & Shower service four days/wk: Free access to full bathroom and laundry (washers/dryers). In 2022 to 2023 there were744 uses of shower, 1834 loads of washing and 1611 items of clothing, toiletries and bedding given out.
- Locker Service: Providing 24hr access for the homeless to store their belongings.
Services are funded by donations and hire of the heritage listed Church and Hall. Op Shop and Village Market operate 3 days/wk contributing to welfare services. Blue Mountains Community Support Hub (initiated by LinkWentworth Housing) operates from Junction 142 monthly as a 'one-stop-shop' for 15 govt/community agencies for the community.
Project Summary
Junction 142 is a unique service in the Blue Mountains. All members of the Board and those providing services to the community are volunteers.
This project will upgrade the ITC to significantly improve collaboration, cost efficiency, security, scalability, remote and mobile access to information and communication for all.
Junction 142 currently use personal computers with no way of sharing or storing information which is problematic, very inefficient and a risk area for the organisation.
This project will provide access to Junction 142 volunteers to Microsoft 356. This will enable all the issues to be overcome as Junction 142 volunteers will be supported by a platform that reduces risk and improves the efficiency and security for the organisation.
Project Outcomes
Benefits of Junction 142 migrating to Microsoft 365 will create a much more efficient, safe and flexible ITC system which all users trained to use efficiently. In detail, the outcomes we expect are:
- Collaboration: Board members and volunteers can collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in real-time, regardless of their location. This is particularly important to Junction 142 as volunteers are mostly retired people and others are working so can have periods of absence, requiring tasks to be shared.
- Cost-effective: It will be a cost-effective solution that allow access to powerful software and tools without having to invest in expensive hardware or software licenses.
- Security: System has built-in security features (two-factor authentication, advanced threat protection, and data encryption), which we feel is essential.
- Scalability: This system can grow and adapt with Junction 142's changing needs. Users can easily be added or removed, add storage space, and applications.
- Remote work: It provides remote access, which can be particularly useful for Junction 142 as Board members often travel away from the area.
- Mobile accessibility: users can access their email, calendar, and files from their mobile devices, which can enhance flexibility and productivity.
- Data backup and recovery: upgraded system will provide automatic data backup and recovery, which will help ensure Junction 142's data is safe and recoverable in case of any disaster or data loss event which is an issue in the Blue Mountains due to Bush Fires.
One of the less obvious benefits we believe will be to encourage new volunteers to join Junction 142 as the ITC will be much more professional, efficient and effective and not rely on personal equipment.
