Project Summary

LINE Wangaratta has established a Pride Hub in Wangaratta in February 2023, located on Bpangerang land in north-east Victoria. The space operates similarly to a Neighbourhood House, providing a safe space for LGBQTIA+ people, families, and allies to meet for peer support programs, events, social connection programs and education workshops. The project also supports employment and training opportunities to regional marginalised community members, while ensuring continued capacity of the organisation operating as a social enterprise.

The Pride Hub includes a:
– Free Pride library, with a range of LGBTQIA+ books for all ages,
– Free toiletries and financial support,
– Free clothing, accessories and shoes,
– Meeting/program space for community meals, activities, peer support programs, workshops, meetings and events.
– Pride Shop, providing an opportunity for community to sell crafts and items, working towards a circular economy, and financially supporting creatives.

It is estimated that approximately 2,883 LGBTQIA+ people live in the 6 LGA’s that LINE Wangaratta delivers services, including Alpine, Benalla, Indigo, Mansfield, Moira, and Wangaratta, covering approximately 21,000 km². LINE Wangaratta is the only community led LGBTQIA+ organisation delivering programs, activities, and events in this area.
There has been a noted increase in the past 2 years, in the:
– Demand from mainstream organisations seeking consultation and engagement, advice, and support,
– Increased need from the LGBTQIA+ community to provide social inclusion and connection programs in their regional and rural areas.

LINE Wangaratta are seeking financial support to expand the Pride Hub Project, to continue to meet community need.

Project Outcomes
