The Australian Cultural Fund is a fundraising platform for Australian artists. It is operated by Creative Australia and was established by the Australian Government in 2003 to encourage donations to the arts.
Through the Australian Cultural Fund, artists upload their project, start their fundraising campaign and invite art lovers and supporters to donate.
Unlike all-or-nothing fundraising platforms, Australian Cultural Fund artists set a fundraising goal, but if it’s not met all donations are still taken into account.
The Fund has helped to raise millions of dollars for Australian artists, allowing them to share their stories, passion, and creativity around Australia and the world.
Project Summary
Radical Generosity is an exhibition held at Hayden’s Gallery, Brunswick East, including artworks by Katherine Hattam, Gyun Hur, Ellen Koshland, Jazz Money, Elvis Richardson, Mithu Sen, and curated by Kathryne Genevieve Honey.
Themes of the exhibition centre around ideas of what holds us together, collective memory and the importance of language. The artworks challenge social norms and question inequities surrounding diversity, ageing, identity, and recognition. How can we care for each other in this time of unrest? How can we ensure we continue to provide care for ourselves?
A series of discussions over shared meals will run alongside the exhibition, fostering dialogue around themes of care, language, feminism and collectivity. Held around a large round table within the gallery, to an intimate group of participants (selected through an open call), this series of public programs seeks to provide a space for individuals to come together, sharing knowledge and food in the spirit of generosity.
This is the second iteration of this project, the first, Rewriting: The Politics of Care, was initially shown at Bus Projects, Melbourne, in 2021, with an extensive printed exhibition catalogue.
Project Outcomes
The exhibition seeks to provide a space for individuals to come together, sharing knowledge and food in the spirit of generosity.
