ChillOut Festival is Australia's premier regional LGBTQIA+ pride event, held annually in Daylesford, Victoria — over the Labour Day long weekend in March.

From humble beginnings in 1997, ChillOut Festival has grown to become Australia's largest and longest running queer country pride festival. Attracting over 30K+ visitors to the region across the festival weekend.

As a mature organisation, we recognise that we need to be more than just a festival. We have achieved charity status with DGR-1 endorsement. We have 2 programs that support our LGBTIQA+ community and as a NFP organisation, for these programs to flourish, we need some assistance.

Raising Rainbows supports our youth by installing flag poles in their schools and raising a Rainbow flag. This allows them to feel accepted to some degree in their schools. Education is provided to the schools about how they can support these student.

Grove of Gratitude is a space in Daylesford, where, with help from the council, we are able to plant trees to celebrate people who have had an impact on the LGBTIQA+ community.

As an organisation, we now want to expand these projects and look at other areas we can help such as the Aged, Dis-abled and First Nations.

Project Summary

We are seeking funding to enable us to put up flag poles this year in schools or community organisations who wish to be more inclusive with their LGBTIQA+ youth.

We are in dire need of support to renew and replace some of our original flags as they don’t last long in our weather. We also need support to provide ongoing training and education for those groups to enable them to provide a safe place.

Project Outcomes

Our expected outcome this year is to be able to install at least 4 new flag poles. We hope to have enough funding for sufficient flags to update all flags provided in the past.

We would like to update and improve our educational resources and fund an appropriate person to provide this training on an ongoing basis.
