Alderwood Manor Alderwood Manor

At Alderwood Manor we believe in the power of the arts to transform lives. A dynamic space designed to foster social connection, encourage creativity, and strengthen cultural experiences. From art workshops to live performances, to cosy coffee moments with a book, every moment at Alderwood Manor is an opportunity for creativity to become a catalyst for positive change in our community.

We are a not-for-profit arts venue based in the small (less than 2000 people) town of Cobden, South-West Victoria.

Project Summary

The updating of vital equipment in our venue would allow us to provide creative opportunities and activities to our community. Our program allows for important opportunities to gather and connect with community members in a safe communal space. These funds would allow us to replace our projection screen with one that is light-rejecting (meaning we can start to program movies during the lighter summer months), it would also allow for us to use the projector screen during the day providing an opportunity to share local stories, promote upcoming events etc.

The funds would also allow us to update/add valuable musical equipment such as a modern amplifier, mixer, microphone suite for live performance, mic stands, cables and an amp rack to professionally store all the technical gear. These additions would allow us to provide much needed equipment to the monthly musical jam nights where local musicians come together to connect, collaborate and share new music. It would also greatly benefit our programming of supporting original live Australian music.

Project Outcomes

The addition/update of our technology accessible at our not-for-profit arts venue will pay dividends in community creativity and social capital. Through the programming of live music, musical jam nights, open mic sessions, movie nights, crafternoons and art workshops Alderwood Manor will be able to advocate for the importance of creativity as a wellbeing tool, building countless opportunities for strengthening social connections and therefore individual resilience.
