The Wandoan and District Kindergarten is the only early childhood education service in our small rural community. It aims to provide high quality education services to children 3-5 years of age. The kindergarten relies on fundraising activities to remain financially viable and affordable for families. The kindergarten hosts the Wandoan Camel Races biannually, not only to raise vital funding for the kindergarten, but to also provide a memorable and engaging event which fosters community spirit.

The Wandoan Camel Races is a major fundraiser for the Wandoan Kindergarten, but also brings economic and social benefits to the community.
In addition to camel races, the event features a myriad of other enjoyable activities and entertainment, such as children’s rides, pig races, raffles and auction prizes, live music, fireworks, FMX stunt riders, and a range of food and beverage options. It is a family-oriented event which relies on a small but dedicated team of parent committee members and staff to host the event.

Project Outcomes

The project aims to achieve financial outcomes for the kindergarten, as well as bringing economic benefits to the local community’s businesses and industries. The event typically attracts between 2000-3000 patrons each time it is held.
