The Women’s Justice League (WJL) seeks funding to provide legal assistance to 100 victims of domestic and family violence who are navigating the family law system. This project will offer crucial support such as a 90-minute consultation with a senior family law specialist, legal representation in court with a barrister, and where possible, funding for family reports for those proceeding to family court without one.
Project Aims:
– Increase Access to Justice: Provide timely, expert legal advice and representation to 100 victims/survivors of domestic and family violence who otherwise cannot afford it.
– Empower Victims with Legal Knowledge: Enable beneficiaries to make informed legal decisions through tailored advice from senior family law specialists.
– Facilitate Fairer Legal Outcomes: Fund the preparation of family reports for vulnerable parents heading into the Family Court system without one—particularly critical where parenting matters and allegations of violence intersect.
– Reduce Legal System Trauma: Minimise re-traumatisation by ensuring victims are not self-represented in complex, intimidating legal settings such as final hearings or interim orders.
– Pilot a Scalable Model: Demonstrate the impact of targeted, flexible legal funding on victim-survivor outcomes and legal system efficiency to inform future funding models.
Women’s Justice League is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering victims and survivors of domestic and family violence. We provide crucial funding and legal support for those navigating the complex and often inaccessible family law system. Our mission is to ensure that every victim has the resources, advocacy, and safety they need to rebuild their life with dignity and justice.
At the heart of our work is the belief that financial independence and legal empowerment are essential pillars of long-term safety and freedom. Through partnerships, fundraising, and community support, we fund services such as family reports, legal representation, and court preparation—resources that are often the deciding factor in achieving fair and safe outcomes.
We are more than an organization—we are a movement. One that uplifts survivors, challenges systemic injustice, and champions a future where no victim stands alone in the fight for their rights and their future.
Our EOFY Winter Appeal 2025 is raising funds for people experiencing homelessness.
The shortage of affordable rentals is fuelling Australia’s cost-of-living and homelessness crisis. Over the past year, many grassroots community organisations have seen demand for support nearly double – just as donations decline. Yet much of this crisis remains hidden. Think – older women sleeping in cars, children in crisis shelters, young people couch surfing, and individuals living in unsafe or overcrowded conditions often go UNSEEN.
Many suffer in silence, concealing their struggles from colleagues, friends and family. With housing affordability continuing to fall, even people in work are being pushed into homelessness- many for the first time.

Our Vision is to shape a responsive, generous, and compassionate community.
Our mission is to respond in a practical or financial way to the needs in our local community and beyond.
Our strategy is to fill what’s empty—community helping the community.
We continue to experience rapidly increasing requirements for our services to the local community in the areas of those who suffer domestic violence and require crisis accommodation through funding for Blue Wren House, housing subsidies for those who are homeless, suffering financial hardship, emergencies such as the recent floods and bushfires. We also furnish and supply linen, crockery, cutlery, clothing and feminine hygiene products to refuge centres. We also financially support seminars presented to local sports clubs to address the issues under the banner of ‘Say No to Domestic Violence’.
We have recently commenced a well patronised monthly Drop in for A Cuppa at Elderslie to provide a venue for those who are lonely, stressed or just want to have a chat.
Money raised by donations from the community of clothing and other items is sold at realistic discount prices of a few dollars each through our Op Shop at Harrington Street Elderslie, and Collectibles through our outlet at Picton. As our customer base grows, so does our support base of now 100 volunteers we can call upon to work in our shops, picking up and delivering furniture, sorting and displaying donated goods.
