When donating online, you have the option to pay via direct debit or credit card. All credit card transactions are processed via Stripe, which accepts most card brands.
Option 2: Donate via cheque #
Make your cheque out to Australian Communities Foundation, clearly identify your Fund name on the back of the cheque, and send to:
Australian Communities Foundation
Level 6, 126 Wellington Parade
East Melbourne VIC 3002
Option 3: Donate via bank transfer #
We also offer direct deposit for large transactions. Please contact us for account details.
How others can donate to your Fund #
Anyone can donate to your Fund via our website: communityfoundation.org.au/donate. If your Fund doesn’t have a ‘Support this Fund’ button and you would like others to be able to contribute to your Fund, please contact us to let us know.
If you would like to customise your donation page with your logo or additional text, or require an embeddable form for your own website, we can help with that too. Learn more: Fundraising and marketing
More about donations #
Donating to another Fund #
You can choose to support another Fund at Australian Communities Foundation at any time, either by making a direct donation via our website, or requesting a transfer from your Fund. You can request a transfer from the Grants tab in your Fund Portal.
Many people in our giving community choose to give together through the Impact Fund, our flagship fund for best-practice collective giving. Backed by a growing community of funders and changemakers, the Impact Fund supports the boldest solutions to the biggest issues facing Australia across four Impact Areas: Tackling Inequality, Strengthening Democracy, Supporting First Nations Self-Determination and Safeguarding the Environment.
Processing fees #
When donating online, donors have the option to cover the surcharge costs incurred by Australian Communities Foundation. These fees are the actual costs of processing payments that are charged to us by our banking provider. Australian Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation and opting to cover the surcharge is a small act of generosity that ensures the full value of the donation is received.
International donations #
You can accept tax-deductible gifts to your Fund from donors in the United States through a partnership with US-based charity Myriad USA. Contact us to confirm your eligibility and we’ll help you start accepting US donations.
Refund requests #
Once a gift has been made to Australian Communities Foundation and a receipt has been issued, the gift is the property of the Foundation. We understand that donations can be made in error and endeavour to accommodate refund requests in accordance with the Request for Return of Donations Policy (available on request). The policy states that if a donation has been made in error, the donor must request its return within four weeks and must co-sign a letter with the Foundation confirming that the receipt issued for the donation has been cancelled. For further information on the circumstances under which the return of a donation can be requested, please contact us.
Other asset types Australian Communities Foundation can accept #
In addition to cash, Australian Communities Foundation can accept gifts in a variety of forms such as property, trading stock and equities. If you have any questions about the type of asset you would like to gift or how you can gift it to your Fund, please contact us. Further information can be found in the Gift Acceptance Policy.
