Human rights and social justice grants
Humanists Victoria exists to help create a civil society in which people can lead an ethical and fulfilling life, relying co-operatively on reason, ingenuity, creativity, and compassion, free from discrimination or supernatural beliefs.
This philosophical approach to life respects the dignity of every individual and is called Humanism.
In pursuit of this vision, Humanists Victoria supports initiatives in Victoria that are working to promote and/or protect the human rights and civil liberties of individuals and groups, especially those experiencing discrimination.
Focus areas
Funding is available to initiatives that promote and/or protect human rights and civil liberties, including but not limited to those that focus on:
- strengthening democracy
- promoting social justice, inclusion or civic opportunities for marginalised groups
- addressing poverty or inequality
- addressing environment and climate change
- opposing religious privilege
Eligibility
Recipient organisations must be:
• based in Victoria
• not-for-profit, incorporated or unincorporated entities
Key dates
The 2024 grant round will open on 6 February 2024 and close on 5 March 2024 at 11.59 pm AEDT.
How to apply

Register for the Australian Communities Foundation Grants Portal. If you already have an account through Australian Communities Foundation, please use your existing username and password. Make sure to note your username and password as you will be able to save and continue the form at a later date.
STEP 3
Log into the system and apply for a grant here.
If the application does not display automatically, you may need to click the Apply button in the top left of the dashboard and enter the access code HV2024
STEP 4
Don’t forget to submit your application before the closing date.
