Agriculture for the Great Barrier Reef

Sustainable Table

Queensland, Regional

The Atherton Tablelands Integrated Collaboration (ATIC) is a program from Sustainable Table to enable and scale regenerative agriculture opportunities within the Atherton Tablelands, a major agricultural region located close to the fragile Great Barrier Reef system. This approach would enhance the landscape’s biological vitality and improve the quality of water flowing to the Great Barrier Reef.

What we like about this initiative

Sustainable Table is one of the few NFPs advocating for and enabling regenerative land management practices in the agricultural sector. This project has an innovative approach to stewardship of the Great Barrier Reef, starting at the source to address the quality of water flowing from the Atherton Tablelands down to the Reef.

Sports and Homelessness

Streetsmart Australia

Nationwide

StreetSmart is using sport and recreation programs to create change for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, and those experiencing socio-economic disadvantage or vulnerability, including children. These programs help build connection and resilience among those vulnerable to homelessness, improving health, wellbeing and social inclusion outcomes. They also help reduce the risk of children and young people becoming involved in petty crime and ending up in youth detention.

What we like about this initiative

StreetSmart has a successful track record of supporting high-impact, community-based projects that otherwise have limited fundraising capacity. This is a powerful initiative that leverages sport and recreation to provide connection and support for people experiencing homelessness and social isolation. Read more

The organisation plans to publish diverse works from at least 40 regional writers and artists with unique perspectives and artistic merit.

What we like about this initiative

With the decline in publishing opportunities and funding for regional stories in Australia, this project has the capacity to connect readers and underrepresented writers across geographic divides while strengthening the national socio-cultural fabric. Read more
