What is a community foundation?

Staff, volunteers and grantmakers from Australian Communities Foundation and Woor-Dungin visit Budj Bim Cultural Landscape in south-west Victoria. Jackie Yowell.

Community foundations help build and strengthen communities through giving

Using a public ancillary fund, community foundations make it easy for individuals, families, friends, community groups, corporates, collective giving groups and more to develop grantmaking strategies that align with their specific interests.

At Australian Communities Foundation, our team takes care of all the administrative paperwork including compliance and due diligence and our fund and foundation holders benefit from our giving community’s knowledge, access to co-funding opportunities and events that deepen our collective impact.

We are Australia’s only nationally-focused community foundation.
