Vale Dr Christopher Baker

Australian Communities Foundation is deeply saddened by the recent passing of one of Australia’s greatest champions of philanthropy, Dr Christopher Baker.

Christopher made a significant contribution to research on giving in Australia, most recently as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Social Impact, Swinburne. He was also the Chair of the Inner North Community Foundation.

“Christopher was passionate about the role of philanthropy in creating prosperous, connected, and cohesive communities,” the Inner North Community Foundation Board said in a statement.

Joining the Australian Communities Foundation in 2012, Christopher and his late partner, Kerri, opened the Equal Access Fund with a focus on improving literacy as a means of addressing systemic and intergenerational disadvantage.

Christopher recently established the Magic Pudding Sub-Fund with Inner North Community Foundation and his family have requested that donations are made into the fund in lieu of flowers.
