About Kon Karapanagiotidis OAM:

Kon Karapanagiotidis OAM is the CEO and founder of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. Proudly Greek and raised in a working‑class family in a small Victorian country town, Kon’s personal experience of racism planted the seeds for his passion for human rights.

Kon’s leadership has been recognised with numerous honours, including an Order of Australia Medal (2011), a Churchill Fellowship (2010), being named among Melbourne’s 100 most influential people by The Age Melbourne Magazine, and being a finalist for the Victorian Australian of the Year Award (2007).

About the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC):

Founded in 2001, the ASRC is Australia’s largest independent human rights organisation, supporting people seeking asylum and delivering holistic programs that protect against destitution, uphold dignity and wellbeing, and empower people to rebuild their lives, while advocating for fair policies and lasting social change.

Grounded in lived experience and powered by a community of staff, volunteers and supporters, the ASRC supports thousands of people each year with essential services including food, healthcare, legal support, education and employment pathways, while mobilising compassion, justice and opportunity across the wider community.

Its mission is to support and empower people at critical points in their journey and build a movement for change, guided by a vision that people seeking asylum can live safely, sustainably, independently and equally.

This session is open to Australian Communities Foundation Fundholders and their guests. Contact us to register.
