Bupa Foundation Community Grants

Applications will be accepted for the following grant streams: 

• Stream 1: One-off grants of $10,000 (20 grants available for small-sized organisations with annual revenue under $500,000) 
• Stream 2: One-off grants of $25,000 (10 grants available for medium-sized organisations with annual revenue of $500,000 – $3 million) 
• Stream 3: One-off grants of $50,000 (6 grants available for large-sized organisations with annual revenue of $3 million or more). Projects must have a national focus.

Eligible organisations can submit only one application per grant stream and must apply to the stream corresponding to their annual revenue. Bupa reserves the right to decide, in its sole discretion, whether and how the grant money is distributed.

• Applicants must be registered in Australia or New Zealand as a not-for-profit or charitable organisation, through the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) or Charities Services
• Applicants must have a current ABN/NZBN
• Government Schools without charity status are eligible to apply
• If the majority of your program participants are First Nations people, you must be a First Nations-led organisation or operate a First Nations-led program (i.e. 50% board/leadership representation).

Although not compulsory, it is preferred that organisations are: 

• (Australia) Endorsed by the ATO with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status and covered by Item 1 of the table in section 30-15 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (Cth), OR
• (New Zealand) An approved donee organisation and registered under the Charities Act 2005.

The initiative must meet all the following criteria: 

• Clearly align with our purpose of preventing and controlling diseases 
• Have a positive impact under our key focus areas and relate to at least one of the key themes: Healthier People, Healthier Communities, and Healthier Planet. 

Healthier People: 

• Grow the next generation of healthy and resilient children and young people; 
• Strengthen social connection to reduce loneliness and improve wellbeing; 
• Support people to take preventative action to improve their health and wellbeing.

Healthier Communities: 

• Close the gap in health inequity experienced by First Nations peoples; 
• Foster inclusion, participation and improved wellbeing for vulnerable people;
• Promote healthy ageing and wellbeing for older people.

Healthier Planet: 

• Improve health and wellbeing through increased access to nature-based activities; 
• Support community-led climate and environmental restoration initiatives; 
• Strengthen community resilience to climate-related health impacts.

Grant Stream 1 and 2: One-off grants of $10,000 and $25,000 will be awarded to eligible organisations and charities conducting projects and initiatives designed to positively impact the communities where Bupa operates. 

Grant Stream 3: One-off grants of $50,000 will be awarded to large organisations undertaking national-scale projects and initiatives. This may include advocacy and systems change work, program enhancement and project delivery, capacity building and program evaluation.
