2025 Large Grant Round 2 – Supporting LGBTQIA+ Refugees and People Seeking Asylum
Pride Foundation Australia (PFA) is proud to announce their second large grant round for 2025, to a total value of $20,000 with a focus on supporting sexuality, sex and gender diverse (LGBTQIA+) refugees and people seeking asylum in Australia.
Grant applications should be to the value of up to $20,000 over two years (if applicable).

ABOUT PRIDE FOUNDATION AUSTRALIA
PFA is a national philanthropic foundation specifically focused on funding lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual and other (LGBTQIA+) community issues in Australia. The Foundation advocates for systemic change to advance LGBTQIA+ equity and inclusion and provide direct support to affected communities/individuals.
PFA raises awareness of LGBTQIA+ disadvantage and work to increase philanthropic support for the Australian LGBTQIA+ and allied communities through fundraising, grant giving, collaboration and commissioning projects – prioritising funding to LGBTQIA+ communities traditionally underrepresented and under-resourced.

Eligibility
Who can apply
- Organisational status that is recognised through incorporation, who are registered as a
business or association with an ABN (charity registration and DGR status is not required) - Organisations who have received a previous grant from PFA are eligible to re-apply for an
extension or new project but is required to submit an acquittal for the previously funded
project. - Individuals cannot apply.
Funding considerations
Projects should aim to support sexuality, sex and gender diverse (LGBTQIA+) people who are refugees or seeking asylum in at least one of the following areas:
- Improving access to stable housing
- Enhancing education and/or workforce participation
- Enhancing support for community connection and improving settlement outcomes
- Improving health and/or health literacy
- Supporting links to LGBTQIA+ services and supports
- Enhancing cultural engagement and development
- Improving LGBTQIA+ inclusivity and culturally appropriate practices in services.
Types of projects with a duration of up to two years may include any of the following:
- Community development, or
- Education and training initiatives, or
- Health and wellbeing initiatives, or
- Applied, community-led research with tangible outcomes in the field, or
- Events including arts and cultural or conferences.
LGBTQIA+ focused means that projects must be specifically focused on people of diverse sexual
orientations, gender identities, gender expression and/or sex characteristics.
Refugee and/or people seeking asylum-focused means that projects must be specifically focused
on forcibly displaced people in Australia, or first-generation people born in Australia but with a
refugee background in their family.
PFA strongly encourages applicants to work with people with lived experience and relevant
organisations. For example, if the applying organisation is refugee-based, they should partner with
LGBTQIA+ organisations.
Partnerships should be arranged prior to the full grant application being submitted, and ideally,
supply of ‘letters of support’ would demonstrate the commitment.
Exclusions
The following activities will not be funded:
- Capital and building works, vehicles, furniture or equipment,
- General fundraising,
- Travel, books, religious activities.
Application process
To access and submit an Expression of interest (EOI) and grant application, you must be logged into the Australian Communities Foundation Grants Portal and enter the access code PFAGR2025.

Timeframes
- Expressions of interest (EOIs) are open from 9am AEST on Monday, 21 July 2025 to 5pm AEST on Friday, 29 August 2025.
- Shortlisted EOIs will be invited to submit a grant application by mid-September 2025.
- Grant applications must be submitted by 5pm AEDT on Friday, 10 October 2025.
- Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified by late-October / early-November 2025.
- Grants will be paid from mid-November 2025 onwards.
All grant applications must be submitted in full, including any supporting documentation, by 5pm AEDT on the closing date. Any incomplete applications or applications received after 5pm AEDT will be treated as ineligible.
