Organisation Summary

ANTAR (formerly Australians for Native Title and Reconciliation) is an independent, non-partisan national advocacy organisation working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders to advance Voice, Treaty and Truth, embed the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in policy and practice, and dismantle the ongoing harms of colonisation through public education and systemic reform. ANTAR is led by a majority First Nations Board and Executive, and guided by First Nations peaks, representative bodies and leadership. We amplify community voices, produce accessible research and policy resources, and mobilise broad public support for practical, rights-based reforms that respect First Nations sovereignty and self-determination.

Across recent years, ANTAR has convened national dialogues on treaty-making (including the high-reach Treaty Talks series), published widely used factsheets, submissions and government election scorecards, co-hosted the inaugural Allies for Uluru National Allyship Summit, and helped build cross-sector coalitions that sustain momentum for First Nations reform. ANTAR is also an active member of several First Nations-led campaigns, including Close the Gap, Change the Record/Raise the Age (national), Just Reinvest NSW, and the First Nations Heritage Protection Alliance, and is host of the campaign, Know Your Country.

Philanthropic investment in ANTAR powers independent research and analysis, national public education, and sustained, collaborative advocacy aimed at systems reform—ultimately moving governments and the Australian public toward a just and truthful future grounded in First Nations rights, self-determination and dignity.
