Byron Community Centre

Situated in the heart of the community, the Byron Community Centre is an independent non-profit that plays an important role in improving the lives of our community members, providing services, activities and events which aim to connect and uplift.

Built by community for community, The Byron Community Centre is a grassroots organisation, self-funded through donations, project grants & our social enterprises: Byron Theatre, Byron Spaces & Byron Markets.

Our DGR registered programs:

• *Fletcher Street Cottage*: an engagement hub for those at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Fletcher Street Cottage provides hot breakfasts, showers & laundry. Community Support Workers provide individual support, information, referral & advocacy for those in need. Our partner Specialist Services include Centrelink, housing, medical care, counselling, legal aid, vet care, a hairdresser and podiatrist, amongst others.
• Byron Seniors Club: A vibrant wellbeing & connection program launched in January 2025 to tackle the growing issue of social isolation among the local senior members. With 396 members & recording more than 1,500 attendances across our regular activities, from drumming & hula dance classes to storytelling workshops & social gatherings.

The impact has been profound: 94% feel more socially connected & 92% report improved mood & outlook. “Seniors Club makes me visible, valued, and part of something special.”
