The Centre for Invasive Species Solutions (CISS) is the peak research, development and extension organisation that builds collaborative partnerships to find solutions to these threats.
Invasive species are a big problem that need smart initiatives to tackle them at scale, which is what our small team is good at.
We developed and maintained WeedScan, the app that Australians are using every day to map weed incursions, and to learn how to manage them. We’ve done the same for feral animals, with FeralScan that records observations of cats, foxes, deer, birds, mice, rabbits and more. We also offer WeedRemeed, drones and AI detecting priority weed species at scale, which is expected to take off and be useful for landholders and bushcarers all over the country.
We began in 2005 as a Cooperative Research Centre and our operations since then have been primarily funded by members, associate members and partners including the Australian Government, state governments, industry groups, Research and Development Corporations and environmental advocacy bodies.
You can help to protect our native species, agriculture and unique landscapes by supporting us through the Invasive Species Solutions Trust.
