Democracy in Colour (DeCo) is committed to creating a just world where migrants, people of colour, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) people, Indigenous people, and other marginalised communities, can thrive across all areas of life.
We are led by racial justice and act on its intersections with social, economic, and climate justice.
With the alarming rise of far-right politics, extremism and fascism, and the ongoing targeting of communities of colour, our role as a civil society organisation working for racial justice has never been more vital.
To create the environment and conditions needed for people to thrive free from the harms of racism, we work across three key areas:
- Movement building & community development: building a diverse, informed, highly skilled, resilient and well connected movement that is capable of developing and implementing long and short term strategies to create change.
- Advocacy & campaigning: challenging structural and systemic racism, and shifting the public narrative around race and racial justice and designing and delivering high impact campaigns to shift policies.
- Solidarity & partnership: strengthen the broader movement for justice and civil rights on this continent by building coalitions and working in partnership with values aligned civil society organisations.
