Education CHANCES Foundation

Education Chances Foundation (ECF) exists to break the cycle of educational disadvantage in Boroondara by ensuring that financial hardship never prevents a talented, motivated student from achieving their academic potential.

Our Core Mission
We provide annual scholarships to approximately 110-130 students from low-income families attending state secondary schools in the City of Boroondara. These scholarships cover essential educational costs: laptops, textbooks, uniforms, and extracurricular activities that would otherwise create insurmountable barriers to full participation in education.

Core Scholarship Programme
Our flagship initiative provides annual financial scholarships to students aged 12-18 from low-income families across eleven state secondary schools in Boroondara and surrounds, operating through a rigorous school-based nomination process
Unlike one-off grants, ECF commits to students throughout their educational journey with renewable annual scholarships based on continued academic engagement.
Foundation Years (7-8) provide essential learning materials, uniforms, and engagement activities building educational foundations.
Development Years (9-10) expand to technology renewal, tools, and resources supporting pathway exploration as students make post-compulsory choices and develop agency.
Pathway Years (11-12) focus on academic excellence, future pathway preparation, and transition assistance. Support includes laptops, textbooks, uniforms, subject tools, extracurricular participation and transport.

Community Engagement
Through events, school partnerships, and volunteer programmes, we build awareness of educational equity issues and mobilise the Boroondara community to support local students. We work in partnership with 11 state secondary schools in Boroondara and surrounds to provide financial, social, emotional and wellbeing support by way of a scholarship.
