Heartscapes Inc

Heartscapes is an organisation that connects, strengthens and deepens urban communities of humans, fauna, flora and fungi through regeneration and conservation.

We are helping to address the deep disconnection humans have with nature and some of the crises that have come from this; climate crisis (urban heat island effect, soil health, water retention), biodiversity crisis (habitat destruction, fragmentation, degradation) and mental health crisis (loneliness, depression, anxiety).

Our current main project is the Melbourne Pollinator Corridor (MPC), an Australian-first, internationally-renown innovation that will be an 8km long, community-driven, ecology-centred wildlife corridor for native pollinating insects. The MPC is aiming for 200 gardens connecting Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne to Westgate Park and, as of mid-2025, we have 46 gardens covering over 1700m2 of land over 3 suburbs.

For 25/26, our priorities of funding are in:

• Volunteer scaling, volunteer education program, community capacity building.
• Evaluation and research (biodiversity, wellbeing).
• Deepening our relationship with Traditional Owners, the Bunurong People.
• Developing our community/citizen science program.
