QYAC was established in 2011 under the Native Title Act 1993 as the Prescribed Body Corporate to manage the rights on behalf of all Quandamooka Native Title holders. QYAC acts as the agent for Quandamooka People’s Native Title rights and interests in land and sea Country. QYAC is also the registered Cultural Heritage Body under the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003 (QLD).
Since 2011, and incorporating the subsequent consent determination in 2019, QYAC has been delivering on the Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs) as directed and authorised by Quandamooka People. QYAC is working with Quandamooka People with a focus on their priorities to build on the Native Title outcomes that support a strong future for Quandamooka People. The role of QYAC in leading Ngaliya Jara Gari will help to ensure that the future of Quandamooka Country is managed in a culturally, environmentally, and economically sustainable way.
QYAC is also the registered Cultural Heritage Body under the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003 (QLD). It is responsible for cultural heritage protection and management across the Quandamooka estate.
