The Lodge Youth Support Service

The Lodge Youth Support Service Inc. has been providing accommodation and support to vulnerable homeless young people for 41 years in Northgate, Brisbane, Queensland. There has always been a need for services such as ours, however in the last few years with a housing crisis, cost of living increase, and a significant rise in domestic violence and abuse, youth homelessness is becoming more and more prevalent.

All young people who present to The Lodge have experienced a relationship breakdown with family and/or a lack of social and community support. With this can come a wide range of additional support needs such as past trauma, mental health and addiction, as well as combined with age, lack of life experience/rental history.

Whilst more accommodation is required to safely house homeless young people given the significant barriers they experience, an emphasis needs to be placed on providing the education and support to not only obtain, but to maintain housing.

The Lodge Youth Support Service offer a structured living skills program which is delivered by a team of case managers and youth workers, this program is designed to equip young people with the skills they need to live independently in the community, maintain their own tenancy and ultimately break the cycle of homelessness.
