Integrity initiative Integrity initiative

Integrity Initiative is a youth, Lived Experience-led, community mental health movement to cultivate autonomy, dignity and human rights in mental health treatment and conversations. Our founder, Rachael, and our volunteer team are all driven by their own experiences of mental health challenges, disability and beyond. Unlike many organisations, they understand adversity because they have lived it.

Integrity Initiative delivers care packages (with material basics and information on self-advocacy). It also creates resources such as brochures, booklets and toolkits for people experiencing mental health challenges (to inform people of their rights and responsibilities) and for treatment providers (to better understand and meet the needs of the people they are working alongside. The NFP also provides clinical education through interactive workshops and holds events within the community to build support networks and reduce stigma surrounding mental health.

Project Summary

Caring With Integrity is our inaugural project making waves in the world of mental health through its multifaceted and human-rights based approach.

In this project, we will deliver care packages that contain material basics such as clothing, toiletries & personal hygiene products, period products, hand-made crafts, hand-written notes and more alongside specially developed and curated resources that educate people on their rights as a person in the mental health system.

Caring With Integrity will also operate within communities, where it will host events and educational sessions ranging from mental health film screenings to carer support sessions and even sessions for educators.

This organisation is auspiced through Consumers of Mental Health Western Australia.

Project Outcomes

To work towards our mission… to cultivate autonomy, dignity and human rights in mental health conversations and treatment.

In achieving this mission, we envision a world where
1. People receiving treatment are free to engage with mental health services whilst being and feeling safe
2. People providing treatment possess a known and felt understanding of people’s needs and how to best meet them
3. Communities understand and positively, proactively engage with the world of mental health

We have a detailed evaluation plan outlining our specific project goals and we will use this to measure our success. We have already started collecting feedback and tracking data from our engagements so far in line with this evaluation plan.
