Project Summary
The First Aid in Schools (FAiS) program equips students with essential lifesaving first aid skills. Through interactive and age-appropriate education, we create safer communities by empowering them with the knowledge and confidence to respond to medical emergencies including how to do CPR and how to call for help in emergency situations.
Project Outcomes
FAiS delivers free first aid training to 18,000 primary school students, across Queensland building vital life-saving skills early.
It is proven through an independent study by the University of Tasmania that these students gain confidence in administering basic first aid and are better equipped to handle medical emergencies in the community after participating in a St John First Aid in Schools course.
It addresses community safety gaps, especially in socio-economically disadvantaged areas, reduces reliance on emergency services by empowering young people to act in critical situations, and spreads first aid awareness within the community.
