As the end of financial year approaches, a time when many Australians focus on their giving, Australian Communities Foundation (ACF) is expanding the ways people and organisations can contribute.
Two new offerings under ACF’s Community Charity Trust, Named Fund Plus and Future Fund Plus, are designed to make giving more flexible, inclusive and responsive to community needs.
Both new options build on ACF’s trusted model – combining tax-deductible giving, responsible investment, and expert support – while widening who can participate and how funds can flow.
Named Fund Plus
Named Fund Plus is designed for individuals, families and groups who want a strategic, tax-effective way to give. Just like our standard Named Fund offering, donors can contribute now, receive an immediate tax deduction, and decide later where their funds will go – allowing time to give thoughtfully.
Crucially, the Named Fund Plus expands where those funds can go: grants can support not only registered charities but also organisations and individuals undertaking activities aligned with traditional Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) category 1 charitable purposes – that is, the types of causes endorsed by the Australian Tax Office to receive tax-deductible donations.
It also allows contributions from a broader mix of sources, including Private and Public Giving Funds (formerly ancillary funds).
Future Fund Plus
For purpose-driven organisations, the Future Fund Plus offers a new pathway to long-term sustainability. It enables charities, social enterprises and incorporated associations to build an endowment while accessing ACF’s donation infrastructure.
Importantly, organisations do not need to have DGR1 endorsement to establish a Future Fund Plus, significantly expanding eligibility. Funds can receive tax-deductible donations, including from structured giving vehicles, and be accessed for any DGR1-aligned purpose. This dual focus on growth and flexibility supports organisations to strengthen their financial resilience over time.
Together, these new options reflect a broader shift in philanthropy – towards more adaptive, collaborative and community-led approaches.
“By widening the pathways through which tax-deductible giving can flow, these new funds support more responsive ways of giving and help loosen the traditional boundaries between funders and those leading change on the ground,” says ACF CEO Andrew Binns.

“In practice, this opens the door to broader participation and stronger community involvement in how resources are stewarded and used.”
At a time of year when generosity is top of mind, the Named Fund Plus and Future Fund Plus offer practical ways to translate intent into impact – whether you’re an individual looking to give with greater flexibility, or an organisation planning for the future.
With simple setup, no establishment fee and full administrative support, both funds are designed to remove barriers and enable more people to participate in structured, strategic giving.
This end of financial year, we invite you to consider not just how much you give – but how you give, and what new possibilities might open when flexibility and community are placed at the centre.
