Adelaide Festival (AF) is globally recognised as Australia’s pre-eminent, international arts festival. Alongside festivals in Edinburgh and Avignon, AF is cited as one of the top festivals in the world, providing audiences with the chance to see the most original and acclaimed artists working in the world today. Our curated program includes Australia’s largest (and only free) literary festival, Adelaide Writers’ Week, alongside a cross-section of theatre, opera, music, dance and visual art from artists of all backgrounds and cultures.

Since 1960, AF has also stood at the helm of artistic innovation, commissioning and championing groundbreaking new works and presenting them alongside the greatest established companies and artists. Creativity, excellence, inclusivity, relationships and ensuring a long-lasting cultural legacy drive our passion for delivering a bold, ambitious and accessible Festival every year.
As just a snapshot of AF achievements, AF25 presented 1,688 artists from 15 countries across 65 unique events and 405 performances attended by over 365,000 people; it generated $62.6 million in gross expenditure for SA, attracted over 27,000 visitors to the state and created 338 jobs. Over 6,500 school students and nearly 2,000 very low-income earners accessed Festival shows through accessible ticket initiatives supported through philanthropy.
