Organisation Summary

Aged Care Justice is a registered charity, supporting Australians receiving aged care services in residential care and in their private home, by providing information on aged care rights, access to legal referral services and advocating for reform. Older Australians participating in the aged care system are vulnerable due to physical and other limitations and require support and protection in negotiating contracts, and for neglect and abuse.
We support aged care recipients by referring them for a pro bono legal consultation with Solicitors on our panel that have an interest and expertise with aged care matters.
ACJ is well supported. Our Chair is Sue Williamson, Partner, Dentons, and are joint Patrons are the Honourable Tony Pagone AM KC, a former Federal Court Judge and Chair of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, and ACJ Founder, Dr Bryan Keon-Cohen AM KC. Rodney Lewis AM, Elderlaw Legal Services, who was appointed to the Order of Australia for ‘life-long contribution to human rights and civil liberties’ is a consultant and on the legal referral panel.

Our mission is to reduce the incidences of elder abuse through education and access to legal support to negotiate outcomes for aged care recipients and their families.
