Assisi Aid Projects

Assisi Aid Projects is a non-denominational international development organisation dedicated to the economic empowerment of women. We support marginalised rural women across the Asia-Pacific to develop skills, access training, and maximise income-generating opportunities.

Our work spans different countries, and our projects differ in every setting. We focus on communities facing structural disadvantage due to poverty, geography, caste, gender or social exclusion. We have supported a range of community-led economic activities, including livestock raising, agriculture, food production and small businesses, to help women build secure and sustainable livelihoods. Our trusted local partner organisations have deep knowledge of their communities and are best placed to lead change. We prioritise local leadership, culturally appropriate solutions, and structured gender analyses to ensure programs are relevant and effective.

Assisi Aid Projects is best placed to deliver this work due to our strong local partnership model, and over 40 years of experience successfully delivering women's economic empowerment projects. Since our foundation in 1985, we have strengthened the livelihoods of thousands of women, helping to build financial independence and long-term security for women and their families.

Our current priorities include increasing access to income for women in India, Nepal and Indonesia, and supporting gender equality initiatives. Within our own organisation, we are embedding racial justice and equity principles across our work.

Funding will support core organisational capacity, enabling us to strengthen partnerships, improve program quality and impact, and ensure resources reach communities where they are most needed.
