Organisation Summary

Autism Valued is a peer-led autistic organisation focused on creating more inclusive pathways to employment, community participation, and self-determined lives for autistic people across Victoria. Established in 1991, and formally known as Asperger’s Victoria, the organisation combines lived experience, practical support, advocacy, and community connection to help autistic individuals build confidence, capability, and belonging.

Autism Valued delivers programs, events, mentoring, and employment-focused initiatives that address the real-world barriers autistic people face in education, work, and social participation. Their work is grounded in the social model of disability, recognising that people are often disabled by inaccessible environments and systems rather than by autism itself.

The organisation is known for its strengths-based and relationship-focused approach, bringing together autistic people, families, employers, educators, researchers, and community partners to improve understanding and create meaningful opportunities. Through initiatives such as the Teens Work Know-How Program, Job-seeker Network, Job Coaching, peer networks, and advocacy projects, Autism Valued supports autistic people to be themselves, realise their ambitions, and contribute their strengths to the wider community.
